Access to the Registry (User Security)

How are operators/BAs informed of Registry requirements?
The DOE Client Registry (not the EUB) issues all new Business Associate (BA) IDs and they are providing information about the Registry to new operators.  Client Registry can be reached by phone: (780) 422-1395 or by fax (780) 422-9522.

Who sets up access for users?
In order to access the Registry, along with a BA ID, each BA must also obtain a BA User Security Administrator (USA)  ID and password.  To obtain this information, contact the Department of Energy’s “Client Registry” at (780) 422-1395.  You will be instructed on what steps must be taken to access your BA USA ID and password.  The USA has the responsibility for setting up and managing security for all users of the Registry for that BA. It is recommended that each company should have a backup USA to ensure the BA’s security functions can be handled at all times.

I am a consultant that will have to access the Registry on behalf of my clients. Do I have to become a BA?
Not necessarily. Your clients may set you up as a user under their BA. However, if you are a registered BA your clients may set you up as a Designate BA, which will also allow you to access the Registry on their behalf, under your BA ID.
