The information contained in the Petroleum Registry of Alberta (Registry) and the Registry website is provided by the Alberta Department of Energy, the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board (AEUB) and oil and gas companies of Alberta to improve the processes involved in the conducting of oil and gas related business.

The Alberta Department of Energy does not automatically gather any personal information-such as name, phone number, email address, or street address-when you visit our websites.  This type of information is only obtained when submitted by an authorized agent of your company.

Any personal infomation exchanged in this site is protected by security safeguards that are appropriate to the sensitivity of the information; this is our commitment to protect your personal information from unwarranted intrusion, release or misuse.

We store the personal information you provide on computer systems which have limited access and are located in controlled facilities.  When we transmit highly confidential information (such as a password) over the Internet, we protect it through the use of encryption, such as the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol.

To make sure your connection to the protected PRA is secured, look for either a 'closed lock' or an 'unbroken key' icon located at the bottom right hand side of your browser's task bar.  You may also check the address bar to determine if (Secure Socket Layer) is active by looking at the beginning of the address (if it starts with "https" rather than the standard "http").

Passwords are used to help protect your accounts and personal information; it is your responsibility to keep your password confidential.  Do not share this information with anyone.  If you are sharing a computer with anyone you should always choose to log out before leaving a site or service to protect access to your information from subsequent users.

The PRA services are generally available 15 hours a day, Monday to Saturday, with occassional Sunday openings.  These services are not available 24 hours a day due to regular maintenance activities.  Registry users are encouraged to view the exact hours of operation on a given day/month within the "Service Desk" area of the Registry website.
